In today’s third session of the Silicon Valley Teenpreneur Program by Edudot the mentor is Sean MacMannis, a UC Berkeley Alumni. The main thing he talked about today was developing a business model canvas. Business model canvas is a good way to structure business ideas. There are 9 main points that are used to elaborate more on business ideas. It covers all from customer segments (who are we trying to serve) until revenue streams (how do we make money).

This gives me a chance to take the next step of developing my business idea. This is because having to see and try to apply my business idea through a business model canvas, gives me a look on how my business idea would operate in the future. Although there are still some points on the business model canvas that I don’t have the answer to yet, it gives me a heads up on what I need to prepare and focus on in the future in order for this business idea to become a reality.

There was one thing that I kept thinking about regarding my business idea. When I was sharing my business idea to the class, there was one comment that Sean made which was do I wanna make it a profit or a non-profitable business. This made me to start thinking on how am I gonna make money through my business idea.

One biggest takeaway I had from this class is how this business model canvas can also be used in other things not only in businesses. My life is surrounded with creative people that are making their creative ideas into a reality. Not only businesses, filmmaking or organizing events can also be better elaborated if it is presented using a business model canvas. What I meant is that the business model canvas doesn’t only apply in businesses, but it be applied in many different subjects and can help me on organizing creative ideas so that I can elaborate more in order for that idea to come to life.
